Serani — No Games

Serani - It's It's - All His Hits (DOWNLOAD) - Chinchilla Choons

Introduction:

Born Craig Marsh on 7 June 1982 in Kingston, Jamaica, Serani is one of the most quietly remarkable artists in modern Jamaican music — a triple-threat singer, producer and musician whose work as one third of the Daseca production trio helped shape the sound of mid-2000s dancehall, and whose 2008 solo single "No Games" became one of the most streamed and sampled Jamaican songs of the streaming era. Daseca produced Sean Paul's Platinum-certified "We Be Burnin'" from The Trinity (2005), Mavado's career-defining "Real McKoy", and Tony Matterhorn's "Dutty Wine". As a solo artist "No Games" peaked at number 53 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, earned UK Platinum certification, accumulated over 107 million Spotify streams, and was sampled by Eminem on his 2020 album Music to Be Murdered By. In 2017, Ed Sheeran was filmed singing "No Games" in a Birmingham pub — the moment going viral. His debut album No Games (2009) reached number 3 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. He has collaborated with Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Burna Boy and Jeremih.

Melodica, Daseca & The Sound of a Generation:

Craig Marsh's musical journey began when his mother gave him a melodica — the blow organ popularised in reggae by Augustus Pablo — an instrument that shaped his sense of melody and production instinct from childhood. In 2001, alongside his best friends David and Craig Harrisingh, he co-founded the Daseca production trio. The name came from the three surnames: DAvis, SErani, CArrington — though the trio was in practice Marsh and the Harrisingh brothers. Within four years Daseca were producing some of the most influential riddims in Jamaican music: the Anger Management riddim that launched Mavado's career; the Smash riddim that powered Tony Matterhorn's "Dutty Wine"; and the production work on Sean Paul's The Trinity.

Serani's first vocal appearance came when he added a falsetto hook to Mavado's deeply emotional 2006 single "Dying". When the song became a hit, he understood his own voice had a future. His 2007 debut single "Doh" (featuring Bugle) went to number one in Jamaica and broke him onto Hot 97 in New York. "No Games" followed in 2008 — a song inspired by a personal experience and the romantic comedy Two Can Play That Game, whose pulsing dancehall-meets-R&B groove and emotionally direct hook connected with audiences far beyond the reggae world. It landed him a major-label deal with JVC Entertainment and a joint venture with Phase One Communications in New York.
