Introduction:
Christopher Martin and Romain Virgo are two of the most beloved and gifted vocalists to emerge from Jamaica in the 21st century. Both won their national television singing competitions — Jamaica's equivalent of American Idol — both went on to sign with VP Records, both toured together internationally, and both represent a new generation of Jamaican singers who have taken the torch of lovers rock and roots reggae and carried it into the modern era with grace, craft and genuine artistry. Christopher Martin:
Born on 14 February 1987 in Back Pasture, Saint Catherine, Jamaica, Christopher Oteng Martin won the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2005 — Jamaica's biggest televised singing contest — becoming instantly famous across the island. He became the first Rising Stars alumnus to score a hit on any Jamaican chart, and went on to build one of the most consistent careers in contemporary reggae and dancehall. Known for his smooth tenor, his pop instincts and his deeply romantic songwriting, his hits include "Cheaters Prayer", "Big Deal", "Let Her Go", "Is It Love" and "Paper Loving".
He signed with VP Records in 2013 and his music has resonated internationally — earning him a loyal following in Japan, Africa, Europe and the Caribbean diaspora. His European collaboration with German reggae star Gentleman on "To the Top" led to a major European tour. He has been named Singer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Male Artiste of the Year multiple times across Jamaica and internationally.

Romain Virgo:
Born on 24 January 1990 in the rural community of Stepney, Saint Ann, Jamaica, Romain Virgo became the youngest ever winner of the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2007, at just seventeen years old. He beat more experienced and older contestants with a voice that combined raw emotional power with a purity of tone that immediately recalled the great Jamaican lover's rock vocalists of the past — Dennis Brown, Beres Hammond, Alton Ellis.
His first big single "Mi Caan Sleep", produced by Donovan Germain at Penthouse Records, was an immediate hit. His self-titled debut album arrived on VP Records in 2010, followed by The System (2012) which entered the Billboard Reggae chart at number 6. In 2014 his reggae reinterpretation of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" topped charts across the Caribbean and racked up millions of online plays. His 2018 album Lovesick gave him his first number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. He studied at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, majoring in voice. In 2011 he made history as the first Jamaican to perform at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
